TROPICAL PARTY IDEAS as seen on taste of home

No plane ticket required.. Turn your living room into the tropics.
Luckily, you can bring them home faster than hopping a jet to the islands. Break out the fruity drinks and island music, and invite some friends over. Who can be in a funk while partying it up, beach-style? Use these tips to turn your living room into a tropical oasis.
Lighten up.
Bright colors are key when it comes to decorating your party room. Use paper garlands, honeycomb fruit decorations, colorful fish, hanging foil palm trees, silk flower garlands and raffia table skirts. Lots of light will boost everyone's mood.

No shirt, no shoes, no problem!
Encourage guests to wear flip-flops, Hawaiian shirts, sarongs and sunglasses. To really get the beach feeling, slather on coconut-scented sunblock, and you'll almost feel the rays of sunshine.

Do the limbo rock.
Crank up the reggae music and let the fun begin! Have a limbo contest. Award the best hula dancer or hula hoop expert. Hold a tropical trivia contest with questions about the Caribbean islands, tropical fish or plants.
Don't forget the tropical menu.
Fruity, blended drinks are a must, and remember to add a tiny umbrella in each one. Feast on fresh pineapple, mango and papaya. Grill shrimp or prepare a spicy jerk chicken. For dessert, serve refreshing key lime pie.

Stay tuned to our next blog when we will have recipes for some fun and fruity drink recipes.

TIKI IS IN STYLE!

. . I was just reading an article fron the sentinal sun newspaper fron St. Augustine , says tiki is back in style, , I love it , for me of course it never left. But i still found it interesting here it is

http://staugustine.com/stories/080804/com_2494600.shtml

This goes along with everything we do here at Suncoast Tiki Huts , from custom building coconut lights , to tiki pole lamps , bamboo cabinets , wall coverings , you name it in architectural tiki living.
We live it everyday , somehow the stresses of the day disappear if you can spend a little time under the tiki hut , or just the tropical atmosphere does something to ease the mind .
I am not saying everything has to be tiki , that is a fun style , we have alot of it outdoors , for the hang out areas , but classic tasteful tropical style also.
Sea grass is a great mat to use as a wall covering , or lahala matting as a wallpaper. It is fairly inexpensive also.
Trimmed with a sanded finished half round bamboo looks great on a bedroom wall , or wainscoting. It doesn't have to be just outdoors , bring a little indoors. I am always available for questions on how to use natural materials.

Go and get creative , create your atmosphere of comfort with the tropical theme , and tiki theme.
There are so many uses for the same products ,and almost all of these are "Green" materials, hand made . Lets all be tiki!
